Description

Whiskey Blue Spot 7 Year Old is the latest addition to the Spot range, making the series complete once again. This is the first time since 1960 that it has been released.

The Irish Spot range, which consists solely of single pot still whiskey, is still specially produced for Mitchell & Son of Dublin by Irish distillers at Midleton Distillery.

The name is derived from how Mitchell arranged his casks, as all received a colored spot. This way, casks of different ages were marked.

The range now consists of 4 whiskeys, with the most famous being Green Spot (which was 10 years old, but is now NAS), 12-year-old Yellow Spot, 15-year-old Red Spot, and now the 7-year-old Blue Spot has returned. This series is special because this Blue Spot is the only one bottled at cask strength.

This Blue Spot matured in bourbon casks, sherry casks, and madeira casks for at least 7 years. It is bottled at an alcohol content of 59.1%.

Fragrance:

a blend of pineapple, kiwi, green banana, and lime zest, followed by spices, baked apple, hazelnuts, and notes of toasted wood

Flavor:

smooth texture with a subtle blend of fruit, a hint of clove oil and crushed black pepper, sweet spices, vanilla and cinnamon complement the nutty character of the wood

Conclusion:

long and balanced with lingering notes of exotic fruits and spices
