Benromach Unpeated

Whisky Benromach Unpeated enters as part of the Contrasts series, which explores different expressions of the classic brand. This version uses 100% unpeated barley and matures in a combination of bourbon and sherry casks (“first-fill Sherry and Bourbon Casks”).

On the nose, you will find rich notes of vanilla, candied pineapple, sweetness, sweet wood and herbal influences.

The palate opens with pineapple, followed by red apple, raspberries, and raisins, with a backdrop of sweet wood and oak, transitioning into subtle herbal notes. The finish is medium-length, with a hint of fresh mint and gentle spice.

This expression is characterized by an interesting synchronization of traditional Scottish Speyside style and pure grain whisky without peat – ideal for those seeking a smoother, less peaty expression.

With 46% ABV and an unpeated profile, Benromach Unpeated is excellent enjoyed neat. It is recommended to let the whisky “breathe” for a few minutes in the glass to fully develop the notes of vanilla, candied pineapple, and sweet wood.

Adding a few drops of cold water will open up the delicate fruity layers – highlighting pineapple, red apple, and herbal mint.
