Description
Newly released 10-year-old whisky from Gordon and MacPhail's Benromach distillery. The first nine years matured in 4/5 bourbon casks and 1/5 sherry casks, then one year in sherry casks.
Aroma: Dry, barley, strong malty and oaky scent. Dry pine, fruity. Boyish at heart. After a while, you'll notice sweet spices and a hint of dried plum from the sherry cask and maple caramel.
Taste: Barley, slightly herbal, a bit fruity, grassy. Strong malty flavor, ground ginger.
Finish: Temptingly bitter-sweet. Ginger, dry sherry, almost hoppy after a while.
Overall impression: Great whisky, its maturity lies in its 10 years and the sherry finish worked wonders.
