The story of Benromach began in 1898 in the town of Forres, at the heart of Scotland’s Speyside region. After decades of silence, the distillery was revived in 1993 by the family-owned company Gordon & MacPhail, which set out to restore a nearly forgotten style – handcrafted whisky with a gentle touch of peat smoke, typical of Speyside before the era of modern, lighter whiskies.

Honest Production with Respect for Tradition

In 1998, the distillery was officially reopened by Prince Charles (now King Charles III), marking a new chapter for traditional Scotch whisky. At Benromach, everything is done by hand – from selecting locally grown barley, lightly dried with peat smoke, to distilling in copper stills and maturing in oak casks that give the whisky depth and complexity. The result is an authentic single malt whisky with the soul of the past.

Benromach uses pure spring water from Chapelton Spring and traditional yeast strains, creating a whisky with an unmistakable profile – rich, fruity, and delicately smoky. The classic Benromach Classic line preserves the timeless Speyside style, while the modern Benromach Contrasts range experiments with cask types, malting methods, and fermentation to bring new taste dimensions.
