AnCnoc Peatheart comes from the Knockdhu distillery, established in 1894, in the Highland region. The distillery produces whisky under the name AnCnoc (to avoid confusion with the bottlings from the Knockando distillery).
This is one of two peated whiskies that the brand currently offers. It is released in batches, and Batch 3 is its latest version. It is made from barley peated to 34 PPM (phenol parts per million), and the resulting whisky has a smokiness level of 13.3 PPM.
The whisky matures exclusively in ex-bourbon casks and is bottled at 46% alcohol, without chill filtration or coloring.
The nose is dominated by pure smoke, followed by a wave of fruit (pears, apples, lime) with hints of tobacco or chocolate and a floral finish. On the palate, a smoky profile is complemented by notes of leather, stewed apples, dark chocolate, vanilla, and lemon juice. The finish is warm and long-lasting, with subtle floral notes and dry smoke.
