AnCnoc Peatheart
Pronunciation: {Anok}AnCnoc Peatheart comes from the traditional Knockdhu distillery (known as anCnoc) in Highland, founded in 1894 in an area rich in peat and barley. It is the first permanent peated blend in the anCnoc range – it is made from barley malted at a high 34 ppm phenols, which brings it close to the level of island whiskies.
The whisky is matured exclusively in ex-bourbon casks and bottled at 46 % ABV, with no artificial coloring or chill filtration.
The nose is dominated by clean smoke, followed by a wave of fruit (pears, apples, lime) with hints of tobacco or chocolate and a floral finish. The palate reveals a smoky profile complemented by leather, stewed apples, a hint of chocolate, vanilla and a distinctive drop of lemon. The finish is warm, long-lasting, slightly floral with lingering peat.
Best enjoyed neat at room temperature, or with a drop or two of water to reveal the complexity of the flavor. Thanks to its well-balanced peaty character, it is an ideal whisky for those looking to enter the world of peated whisky with a fruity finish – perfect for evening relaxation or a winter evening by the fireplace.
