Aberfeldy 16 Year Old
Pronunciation: {Aber-feldi}Aberfeldy 16 Year Old is a premium single malt whisky from the Highland region of Scotland, positioned among the deeper expressions in the Aberfeldy portfolio. Officially, it belongs to the “Last Great Malts” range, which emphasizes maturity and cask-driven character.
The whisky is produced through the classic process of Scottish single malt – malted barley, water from local sources, and distillation in copper pot stills.
After distillation, it matures in a combination of casks: initially in first-fill, refill, and ex-bourbon casks, and then it undergoes a six-month finishing period in selected Oloroso sherry casks.
On the nose, it shows a sweet and fruity character – raisins, dried fruit, honey – with hints of citrus freshness and spicy accents such as cinnamon and cloves.
On the palate, it opens gently with apple, pear, caramel, and honey, gradually developing into dark fruits, dark chocolate, hints of coffee, and subtle spice.
The finish is medium in length, with an emphasis on honeyed sweetness, oak notes, fine texture, and a touch of spice or delicate woodiness.
Aberfeldy 16 is bottled at 40 % ABV.
