Single Malt Irish Whiskey Tullamore Dew 18 Year Old matures for 18 years, enhancing its character with a finish in four different types of casks: ex-bourbon, Oloroso sherry, Port, and Madeira. This is an exceptional offering from Tullamore D.E.W., combining the smoothness of Irish single malt whiskey with the depth of wine casks.

The founder Daniel E. Williams perfected the delicate whiskey to complete uniqueness. The rich character and quality of this drink come from aging and carefully selected wood. The eighteen-year-old single malt slowly matures in oak ex-bourbon casks and is finally stored for 6 months in sherry, port, madeira, and oloroso casks.

The aroma reveals honeyed malt, baked apples, vanilla and a base of oak wood. Further notes of dried fruits such as plums and raisins emerge, along with hints of chocolate and the renowned fruity complexity from the wine casks (sherry / Madeira / Port).

The taste is smooth, with centuries-old sweetness combined with spicy elements – a gentle pinch of white pepper, perhaps a touch of nutmeg; along with baked apples, orange marmalade, and nougat. In the mid-palate, fruit comes forward, and the wine casks add tannin and depth. There is enough alcohol for the whiskey to have weight, but it is not aggressive – 46% ABV is well integrated.

We recommend serving it best neat, at room temperature in a Glencairn glass or tulip whiskey glass. A few drops of water can help open up the wine and fruit layers. It serves excellently as a digestif or during special moments – when you want to fully savor the taste of whiskey.
