Rudolf Jelínek Vizovická Slivovice variety Stanley 2020
The story of the unique plum brandy Rudolf Jelínek Vizovická Slivovice variety Stanley 2020 began a few years ago.
The climate of the Wallachian region has favored plums and their cultivation for centuries. Therefore, in 2003, enthusiasts from the Jelínek distillery revived the orchard tradition and began planting their own plum orchards on the southern slope of the Vizovice valley, in an area called Těchlov. After five years, they harvested the first crop of Vizovice plums and started a new tradition – the production of the limited series Vizovická slivovice R. Jelínek.
Plums are always harvested by individual varieties and must also be distilled separately. After at least a year and a half of aging, one distillate is selected together with members of the Friends of Jelínek's Slivovice Association, which is bottled as the anniversary limited Vizovická slivovice R. Jelínek.
The Stanley variety, a staple of global fruit growing, is very popular among gardeners and professional fruit growers. It was bred in the 1920s in the USA. In the R. Jelínek orchards, Stanley is cultivated on an area of nearly 13 hectares and was included in the planting right at the establishment of the orchards in 2003.
The blue-purple fruit reaches ripeness around September 10 with a sugar content of about 23 brix. When halved, the plum is very juicy and the greenish-yellow flesh has a fragrance reminiscent of floral honey. The Stanley variety has a very wide range of uses; besides producing traditional slivovice, it is used for drying or making jam.
Vizovická Slivovice 2020 Stanley was produced in a series of 5,020 bottles, each marked with a serial number. The bottles are filled with an alcohol content of 50% with a volume of 0.7 l.
