Kilchoman New Oak Single Cask Finish
Pronunciation: {Kil-hómen}Kilchoman New Oak Single Cask Finish is a single malt whisky that matured in new Carpathian oak casks and was then transferred to re-charred large 300-liter casks previously used for red wine. Only a very limited number of bottles - 291 pieces.
The new bottling is the result of an experiment by Anthony Wills with maturation in new oak casks (“Virgin Oak” can no longer be used). Anthony Wills, who was always aware of the risk that the woody and resinous flavors of new oak could quickly overpower the light and delicate Kilchoman whisky, nevertheless decided not to take the usual route, i.e., not to use bourbon casks in combination with New Oak casks made from American white oak, but instead chose to mature in toasted and re-charred casks previously used for red wine, and for finishing new casks made from European oak from the Carpathians.
The whisky first matured in red wine casks for over five years and was then finished in new Carpathian oak casks for more than 18 months. The result is a Kilchoman whisky like we have never tasted before: the sharpest Kilchoman whisky ever.
Bottles are filled with an alcohol content of 57.1% with a volume of 0.7 l and are delivered in gift cartons.
