Don Papa

Don Papa is a prestigious Filipino rum brand inspired by the story of a participant in the Philippine Revolution. Don Papa rum is named after a Filipino leader called Dionisio Magbuelas. This gentleman, nicknamed Papa Isio, was a key figure in the Philippine Revolution in the struggle for liberation from Spanish rule. Dionisio did just that and was declared a national hero, even though he was imprisoned for life. It is his likeness that you can find on Don Papa rums.

Given that the company was named after him, it won't be surprising that Don Papa rums are made in the Philippines, or more specifically on the island of Negros Occidental. This island has always been the sugar cane capital of the region and therefore the rum production capital. Don Papa rums are sold and distributed through a subsidiary, Bleeding Heart Rum Company.
