Don Papa Port Casks is a limited 7-year edition of Filipino rum that first aged for 2 years in American ex-bourbon barrels and then 5 years in port wine casks, gaining its characteristic color and complexity.
This rum is distilled from black malagasy molasses grown on the volcanic island of Negros. It first ages for 2 years in charred American oak bourbon barrels, then 5 years in selected ex-port casks, which add a dark red hue and depth of aromas. Distillation is done using a column system and it is bottled at 40% ABV.
On the nose, deep notes of sweet licorice, dark chocolate, muscovado sugar, red orange, ripe berries, and subtle vanilla emerge. On the palate, the rum develops a complex profile with toasted oak, cinnamon, coffee, caramel, fresh vanilla, fruit and a slightly spicy hint of brown sugar.
This edition pays tribute to the 500th anniversary of Magellan's first circumnavigation of the Earth, who landed in the Philippines in 1521. The beautiful bottle with a red label reflects the dramatic story of this expedition and the heritage of sugarcane from Negros – the heart of the Filipino rum industry.
Bottles are delivered in a stunning colorful design along with gift tubes.
