Don Papa Port Casks is a limited 7-year edition of Philippine rum, which first matured for 2 years in American ex-bourbon barrels and then for 5 years in port wine barrels, giving it its characteristic colour and complexity.
This rum is distilled from black Malaga molasses grown on the volcanic island of Negros. It is first aged for two years in toasted American oak bourbon casks, then for five years in selected ex-port casks, which give it a dark red hue and depth of aroma. Distillation is carried out using a column system and bottled at 40 % ABV.
The nose reveals deep notes of sweet wood, dark chocolate, muscovado sugar, red orange, ripe berries and delicate vanilla. On the palate, the rum develops a complex profile with toasted oak, cinnamon, coffee, caramel, fresh vanilla, fruit and a slightly spicy hint of brown sugar.
This edition pays tribute to the 500th anniversary of Magellan's first circumnavigation of the globe, who landed in the Philippines in 1521. The beautiful bottle with a red label reflects the dramatic story of this expedition and the heritage of sugar cane from Negros, the heart of the Philippine rum industry.
The bottles come in a beautiful colourful design with gift tubes.
