Cihuatán Sahumerio

Limited edition! Cihuatán Sahumerio is a Salvadoran rum created to celebrate love. The symbol of love in Mayan symbolism is fire, which is guarded by the eagle goddess Chantico. Every household should therefore keep a sacred fire vessel called “Sahumerio” lit day and night in honor of love. The Mayans were a tightly-knit community and deeply valued love and relationships. To attract love, they performed a simple magical ritual: they burned offerings in the Sahumerio to win the favor of the goddess Chantico. Each offering had its significance: dried flowers, myrtle or flower honey for romantic love, dried fruit for family unity, incense for friendship, cocoa, seeds, and butters for protection and self-love. Cihuatán Sahumerio rum is a blend of four light and heavy, 12 to 14-year-old Salvadoran vintage rums that faithfully evoke the tones of the ingredients used in the burning of Sahumerio.
