This edition of Brugal Leyenda Seleccion Especial features a special selection to celebrate the 5th anniversary of this exceptional spirit, made from the finest vintages aged for 5 years. In the first phase, the rum aged in ex-bourbon barrels made of American white oak, followed by a second aging in ex-sherry Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez barrels.
A selection in honor of the legacy of Andrés Brugal, the founder of the company. Spanish King Alfonso XII honored him for his great courage. Due to his passion for the art of rum production, he achieved the highest accolades of his time. Thus, his legend was born.
Don Andrés Brugal Montaner left his native Spain to prosper in the Caribbean.
After learning the craft of rum production in Cuba, he moved in 1855 to the Dominican Republic, specifically to Puerto Plata. In this city, Brugal rums continue to mature to this day.
There, after several years, he managed to develop a production process that ensures a consistent quality of rum. This secret is now passed down from generation to generation.
