Brugal rum is produced by Brugal & Co., which operates three distilleries. One in the city of Puerto Plata and two in San Pedro de Macorís. It is the combination of modern technology, local ingredients, and years of experience that allows the brand to maintain a stable flavor across its portfolio.

Brugal is now considered the third largest rum producer in the world.

Among the most popular products of the brand is Brugal 1888, a premium rum aged using a double aging system – first in American bourbon barrels and then in sherry casks. Another notable representative of the portfolio is Brugal Extra Viejo, a longer-aged rum with a richer expression, intended primarily for sipping.

An interesting fact about the Brugal brand is that, as one of the few large producers in the Caribbean, it has long emphasized a drier style of rum without excessive sweetness, distinguishing it from many sweeter Caribbean rums.
