Description
Ardbeg Grooves was released to celebrate Ardbeg Day and showcases the distillery’s experimentation with uniquely treated oak casks. The whisky matured in deeply charred American oak casks, where intense charring created deep grooves in the wood, increasing interaction between spirit and oak.
The result is a classic Ardbeg smoky backbone enhanced by bold spice, charred oak, caramel, dark chocolate and subtle sweetness. A powerful and distinctive expression for Islay peat lovers.
Flavour Profile
Color:
Deep golden amber with subtle reddish hues reflecting the influence of wine casks.
Nose:
Powerful peat smoke and ash, smoked meat, black pepper, dark berries, hints of red wine, coastal salinity and subtle sweetness.
Taste:
Full-bodied, bold and complex. An explosion of peat smoke, ash and sea salt, followed by blackcurrants, plums, spice, sweet oak and subtle wine sweetness.
Finish:
Very long, dry and smoky with lingering dark fruit, spice, peat and coastal salinity.
