Taste of Summer: Margarita

Margarita is one of the most famous mixed drinks in the world. It ranks among icons such as Sex on the Beach, B52, Cosmopolitan, Mojito, and dry Martini (shake, don't stir!). It will win you over with its fruity and sweet, yet citrusy and sour taste. It is perfectly refreshing during hot summer days.

22.2. is a reason to celebrate

Every year on this day, we celebrate a very important holiday for all lovers of mixed drinks: World Margarita Day. This cocktail is one of the most famous and popular in the world. For many people, it is a gateway to mixology because it is essentially very simple -but many of its variations can be very interesting and impressive drinks even for experienced bartenders.

Why "Margarita"?

Margarita was supposedly created around 1930 from an American mixed drink called "Daisy," which contained brandy. However, brandy was difficult to find in Mexico, so bartenders replaced it with tequila. The drink was called "Tequila Daisy," or Margarita in Spanish, since Daisy is a nickname for Margaret.

Recipe for a classic margarita:

First, chill the margarita glass until it starts to sweat on its own when you take it out (this is not essential). Rub the rim with a piece of lime and dip the outside of the rim in salt.

Put ice, tequila, Cointreau, lime juice, and sweet syrup to taste into a shaker. Shake everything and pour through a strainer into a glass with ice. Garnish with a slice of lime.

One drink, a thousand variations

In addition to the classic method, there is another legitimate way to enjoy this drink: frozen Margarita. The difference is that you put all the ingredients in a blender instead of a shaker – along with ice. The result is an alcoholic, incredibly tasty ice slush. Of course, there are countless variations on one of the most famous drinks ever. We will briefly mention only the most famous and interesting ones:

Gold Margarita

Golden Margarita is made from golden tequila instead of silver. Instead of Cointreau, liqueur is used Grand Marnier, which is more suited to the richer taste of golden tequila.

Beer Margarita

Blue Margarita

The very impressive Blue Margarita, which uses neon blue liqueur instead Bols Blue Curacao.

Grapefruit Chilli Margarita

Instead of Cointreau, use the same amount of grapefruit juice and boil one chili pepper in sweet syrup. A truly devilish invention.

Grep chilli margarita

There's really nothing to fear with Margarita. Try mixing it up at your next party and see how it brings all your friends to their knees!
