Tajna Five Senses FRESH 2023

Tajna Five Senses FRESH 2023 is a Slovak dry red cuvée from Tajna Vineyards & Winery, which for the first time brings red wine to the FRESH collection. This collection is known for its fresh, modern, and easy-drinking style, but in this case, it gains a fuller and more complex red character.

The wine was created by blending five blue varieties – Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, and Dunaj. Each variety was harvested and processed separately to preserve its own expression, and only then was the final blend created. The goal was to produce a wine that authentically reflects the terroir of Tajna and the character of the local vineyards.

In the glass, it captivates with a deep ruby-garnet color. The aroma is complex and layered – dominated by notes of plums and ripe cherries, typical for Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Merlot brings smoothness and fruity sweetness, Dunaj adds spiciness and structure, while Pinot Noir introduces an elegant fruit line. In the background, hints of cocoa, tobacco, and sweet licorice emerge.

The taste is juicy, compact, and harmonious, with ripe tannins and a balanced fruity-spicy expression. Tajna Five Senses FRESH 2023 pairs excellently with beef, game, and hard cheeses like pecorino. It shines best at a temperature of 14 – 16 °C in a red wine glass.
