Unusual gin from the Black Forest in Germany. Monkey 47 contains a unique ingredient. It is cranberries! Monkey 47 is made from a range of plant materials that go into this unique gin. Its name refers to 47 hand-picked botanical ingredients used in its production, and to the alcohol content of 47 %.
The aroma of the gin is woody, with hints of vegetables, undertones of fresh lemongrass, and botanical sweetness, reminiscent of a pine forest after rain. The taste is complex, full of spices, fruits, and herbs, with a citrus flavor at the beginning transitioning into notes of pine and dry wood.
The history of this gin dates back to the 1950s, when British Air Force officer Montgomery Collins, serving in Germany, created his own gin called "Max the Monkey - Schwarzwald Dry Gin". The name was inspired by Max the monkey, which he adopted from the Berlin Zoo during its renovation, and the place of production – the Black Forest.
