Connemara Distillers Edition

Connemara Distillers Edition is an Irish single malt whiskey from Cooley (Kilbeggan / County Louth) that is distinguished by its subtle peaty (turf) smokiness. It first matures in ex-bourbon casks and then finishes in a selection of Oloroso sherry casks, which adds depth and a sweet-fruity character with hints of sweet vanilla and honey.

The aroma features a pronounced earthy smoky scent, complemented by honeyed malt, juicy apple, and hints of orchard fruit – peach or pear – along with a touch of sherry sweetness. Alongside the smoke, notes of vanilla and oak emerge, providing stability and a deeper foundation.

On the palate, the whiskey offers an initial sweetness – honeyed notes and grain malt, then the mid-palate develops with a fruity profile (peach, orchard fruit), followed by black pepper and noticeable, yet moderate peatiness. The sherry finish adds a delicate nutty and dried fruit trace that harmonizes with the smoke. The overall flavor is smooth and well-balanced.

We recommend serving best neat at room temperature, in an appropriate glass (Glencairn or similar), to allow the aromas to fully develop. If you want to release even more fruit and sweetness, a few drops of water can help. It also works well as a digestif after a meal or if you want to slowly savor the whiskey during a special moment.
