Connemara Distillers Edition

Connemara Distillers Edition is an Irish single malt whiskey from Cooley (Kilbeggan / County Louth), which is distinguished by its delicate peaty (bog) smokiness. It is first matured in ex-bourbon casks and then finished in a selection of Oloroso sherry casks, which adds depth and a sweet, fruity character with subtle notes of sweet vanilla and honey.

The aroma has a distinctive earthy smokiness, complemented by honey malt, juicy apple and hints of orchard fruit – peaches or pears – and a subtle hint of sherry sweetness. Along with the smoke come notes of vanilla and oak, which provide stability and a deeper foundation.

The whisky offers an initial sweetness on the palate – honey notes and grain malt, then the middle section develops with a fruity profile (peach, orchard fruit), followed by black pepper and a noticeable but moderate peatiness. The sherry finish adds a subtle nutty and dried fruit note that harmonises with the smoke. The finish is smooth and well balanced.

We recommend serving the whisky neat at room temperature in a suitable glass (Glencairn or similar) to allow the aromas to fully develop. If you want to release even more fruit and sweetness, a few drops of water can help. It is also suitable as a digestif after a meal or if you want to savour the whisky slowly during a special moment.
