Vieux Sajous 5 Year Old 2020 is a distinctive Haitian clairin / Pure Single Rhum Agricole, showcasing how traditional Haitian sugarcane distillate can develop during extended tropical aging. It is made from Cristalline sugarcane grown on the Saint-Michel-de-l’Attalaye plateau and is distilled in a pot still using native yeasts.
This edition was distilled in 2020 and aged for 5 years at the Distillerie de Port-au-Prince. It is a blend of 19 mixed barrels, which previously contained rum and whisky. Tropical aging enhances the intense concentration of flavors and transforms the original sugarcane aromas into a more complex, deeper, and richer profile.
On the palate, Vieux Sajous 5 Year Old 2020 is bold, raw, and authentic. It combines notes of fresh sugarcane, tropical fruits, spices, wood, ester aromaticity, and a subtle influence from rum and whisky barrels. Due to its higher strength, it is particularly suitable for slow sipping neat, or with a few drops of water.
