Set Black Tot Master Blender's Reserve 2022 + 2023 + 2024 + 2025
Black Tot Master Blender's Reserve 2023 - this year, Master Blender, Oliver Chilton, aimed to create a blend that is closer to the original Navy rum with a heavier mouthfeel and rich notes of smoke, espresso, and cocoa.
Rum from Grenada, distilled in 1993, was added to the blend to provide depth and highlight the rich notes of orange oil. Oliver started with last year's blend - Master Blender's Reserve. Then, barrels were selected from Trinidad, Barbados, Jamaica, Guyana.
A higher proportion of Guyana was included in this year's blend, with dense sweet wood in this rum helping to restore the unique flavor profiles that were present over half a century ago.
After blending all these unique elements, the rum was bottled at a 54.5% alcohol content. Get ready for an incredible explosion of flavors along with a fantastically fruity aroma. The bottle comes in an exclusive white-gold gift tube with a minimalist design.
Black Tot Master Blender's Reserve is a limited edition of a special blended rum from the year 2022. It is a blend of exceptionally exclusive twenty molasses rums from Guyana, Barbados, Jamaica, and Trinidad from various distilleries.
The casks containing the rums were selected from deep and long archival cellars located beneath the Black Tot distillery. The first batch of rums from Guyana consists of a 30-year-old rum that underwent distillation using Column Still and continental aging. This is followed by 2-year-old, 18-year-old, and 7 year-old rum from the Demerara distillery.
The second batch comes from the world-famous Barbados, featuring a 19-year-old rum from the Mount Gay distillery, 16-year-old, and 7-year-old from Foursquare. The third batch originates from Jamaica and includes a 27-year-old from New Yarmouth, 27, 24, and 22-year-old from Clarendon Estate, 23-year-old from Long Pond, and the last 22-year-old from an unknown distillery.
The penultimate batch comes from Trinidad with 24, 12, 12, and 10-year-old rum from the TDL distillery along with one 24-year-old from Caroni. The final added batch is a blend of last year's edition Black Tot Master Blender's Reserve 2021 along with the original blend of rums Royal Navy.
After blending all these unique rums, the final product was bottled at 54.5% alcohol content. Prepare for an incredible explosion of flavors along with a fantastically fruity aroma created by the combination of all the exotic rums. The bottle is presented in an exclusive white-gold gift tube with a minimalist design.
Black Tot Master Blender's Reserve 2024 is one of the most complex and balanced sipping rums with rich layers of tropical fruit, manuka honey, and white chocolate.
The rum is aged in American and European oak barrels.
A rediscovery of the lost art of blending, rare single-cask rums from Barbados, Trinidad, Guyana, and Jamaica are blended with last year's Master Blenders Reserve. As always, original Royal Navy rum is added to preserve the liquid history.
This year, Master Blender, Olive Chilton, included a higher proportion of Barbadian rums to highlight the rich tropical fruit in the blend. The rum features a full breakdown of the blend, including the origin of the distillery, years of tropical and continental aging, and the percentage of each component in the blend.
Bottles are filled with an alcohol content of 54.5% with a volume of 0.7 l and are delivered in creamy white gift cartons.
This edition is part of the annually released series Master Blender’s Reserve, which utilizes the principle of perpetual blend - each new bottle contains a portion of the previous blend, creating a connection of history and evolution.
The main part of the blend comes from Guyana, enriched with rums from Barbados, Jamaica and a rare single cask piece from the legendary Trinidadian Caroni Distillery, which is now closed. Additionally, it contains a portion from the 50th Anniversary edition (2020), which matured in an ex-sherry cask.
On the nose, rich notes of dark chocolate, black sweet caraway, and overripe bananas emerge, underpinned by tropical fruit undertones. The palate intertwines orange juice, anise, dry cinnamon, minty freshness, and fennel, with a long-lasting finish of grapefruit and acacia honey.
We recommend serving it neat at room temperature to reveal all the layers of fruit, spice, and depth of the blend. It is a rum that deserves slow, meditative enjoyment - ideal after dinner or as a collector's piece for connoisseurs. Moreover, it is bottled without chill filtration (non‑chill filtered), with no added sugar or colorants - maximum authenticity.
