Where did Koktail come from?
The origin of the word cocktail is shrouded in mystery, and no one knows exactly when it originated. The first mentions of "cocktails" were published in newspapers around 1806. The author used the word "cocktail" in connection with a specific drink that contained whiskey, sugar, and bitters. This name caught on and began to be used generally in connection with any alcoholic beverage mixed with bitters and sugar. The legendary Old Fashioned is a clear example of a true cocktail.
Cocktails have evolved dynamically over the last 200 years and are literally alchemy. Today, we know a number of mixed drinks and there are really no limits to the imagination.
