Planteray Vintage Trinidad 2003 is an exceptional rum from the limited edition Vintage Collection No. 3, produced in a limited quantity of only 40 barrels. It was distilled in 2003 at the Trinidad Distillers Ltd. distillery from molasses, with fermentation lasting two days and distillation taking place in a column still.
The rum matured for 19 years in 200-litre bourbon barrels in the tropical climate of Port of Spain, Trinidad, before being transported to France, where it matured for another 3 years in Ferrand cognac barrels in Javrezac. The result is a rum with an alcohol content of 47,8%, no added sugar or caramel, and a high content of esters (196 g/hL AA) and volatile substances (710 g/hL AA), which testifies to its complexity and intensity.
This rum is known for its rich and balanced taste. The aroma reveals notes of citrus, peach and mango, which give way to honey and spicy nuances with hints of nutmeg and delicate spices. The palate is dominated by a citrus explosion of lemon and pear, complemented by grapes, caramel, oak and coconut, creating an intense woody finish.
These flavour profiles are the result of long tropical ageing and subsequent maturation in cognac barrels, which give the rum complexity and depth. Planteray Trinidad 2003 is ideal for connoisseurs and collectors who appreciate its limited nature and precise craftsmanship.
This rum is excellent for slow sipping and discovering its layered flavours, and is recommended to be served neat or with a quality cigar for an even more intense experience.
