Planteray Vintage Trinidad 2003 is an exceptional rum from the limited edition Vintage Collection No. 3, created in a quantity of only 40 casks. It was distilled in 2003 at Trinidad Distillers Ltd. from molasses, with fermentation lasting 2 days and distillation taking place in a column still.
The rum aged 19 years in 200-liter bourbon casks in the tropical climate of Port of Spain in Trinidad, and was then transported to France, where it matured for another 3 years in Ferrand cognac casks in Javrezac. The result is a rum with an alcohol content of 47.8 %, with no added sugar or caramel, high ester content (196 g/hL AA) and volatile compounds (710 g/hL AA), which speaks to its complexity and intensity.
This rum is known for its rich and balanced flavor. The aroma reveals notes of citrus, peach, and mango, transitioning into honey and spicy nuances with hints of nutmeg and subtle spices. On the palate, a citrus explosion of lemon and pear is complemented by grape, caramel, oak, coconut, creating an intense woody finish.
These flavor profiles are the result of long tropical aging and subsequent maturation in cognac casks, which give the rum complexity and depth. Planteray Trinidad 2003 is ideal for connoisseurs and collectors who appreciate its limited character and precise craftsmanship.
This rum is excellent for slow sipping and discovering its layered flavors, and it is recommended to be served neat or with a quality cigar for an even more intense experience.
