Jamaican 10-year-old rum Mezan Jamaica 2011 matures for 3 years in a tropical climate in Jamaica and then matures in Europe for 7 years. Mezan Jamaica matures in ex-bourbon barrels. Rum is made from molasses and distilled twice in a Forsyth’s copper vessel. The distillery is located in the town of Valle Lluidas, where 90,000 tons of sugar cane are produced annually.
Mezan adheres to its philosophical concept of "The Untouched Rum" – no added sugars, artificial colors, or cold filtration. The rum matured for 3 years in the tropical climate of Jamaica and then for 7 years in Europe in bourbon barrels (both first-fill and refill), giving it depth and a delicate color.
The aroma is rich in typical Jamaican tones – ester-rich aromas of green banana, lychee, fresh grass and spices, underpinned by subtle oak. The taste is richly tropical, with a warm ester base, combining banana, exotic spices and subtle fruity undertones.
It is best enjoyed neat, without dilution, to fully appreciate its complex Jamaican character and esters.
