Macallan Rare Cask Black

This whisky comes from the Macallan distillery and is specifically bottled from The Macallan Rare Casks series. It was introduced to the market in 2015 and represents a unique chapter in the story of this iconic series, as it contains a proportion of peated distillate, which gives the whisky its delicately smoky character. The result is an unusual whisky, encased in an elegant black bottle that highlights its rarity and unusual character.

It is made from less than 100 carefully selected casks, mostly first-fill sherry casks made from European and American oak, which matured in dark storage rooms until bottling.

It is bottled at 48 % alcohol content, without coloring, but the producer does not provide information on whether the whisky has been chill-filtered or not.

The aroma combines the rich sweetness of dried fruit (figs, raisins, dates) with spicy accents (nutmeg, ginger and cinnamon), covered by a delicate layer of peat smoke.

The taste develops an intense sherry character, combining fruity sweetness and subtle smoke; notes of caramel, nuts, black pepper, earthy cinnamon smoke and maple syrup can be detected, while the whisky remains full and balanced.

However, its strong profile can also handle a few drops of water to reveal hidden fruity and spicy nuances. Thanks to its exclusivity, it is suitable as a luxury gift for connoisseurs.
