Macallan Rare Cask Black

This is a Speyside distillery whisky - Macallan Rare Cask Black, renowned for its expertise in sherry maturation. Rare Cask Black is made from less than 100 carefully selected casks, mostly first-fill sherry casks made from European and American oak, which matured in dark storage rooms until they were ready for tasting.

The whisky contains rare pieces of peaty distillate - unusual for Macallan - giving it a distinctly smoky profile that is very rare for this brand. It is bottled at 48 % ABV, without coloring or chill filtration.

The aroma combines the rich sweetness of dried fruits (figs, raisins, dates) with spicy accents such as nutmeg, ginger and cinnamon, covered by a delicate layer of peat smoke.

The palate reveals a dense sherry character, combining fruitiness with hints of saltiness and smokiness; notes of caramel, nuts, black pepper and earthy smoke emerge, while the whisky remains full and balanced.

Rare Cask Black is ready for meditation — it is recommended to drink it neat at a comfortable room temperature to bring out its structure and layered tones of sherry and smoke. However, its strong profile can also handle a few drops of water to reveal hidden fruity and spicy nuances.
