Macallan A Night On Earth Jerez is the third installment of the series. In this edition, we travel to the south of Spain, a place that holds great significance for The Macallan.
It is in Jerez where all the sherry casks mature. Sherry ages in casks here for 18 months. In Jerez de la Frontera, the brand owns large estates that significantly contribute to the exceptional flavor of The Macallan whisky.
The whisky A Night on Earth Jerez primarily matures in special sherry casks made from American and European oak, which greatly influence its flavor profile.
This exceptional whisky combines the taste of Spain with the unique atmosphere of New Year's Eve!
In Spain, New Year's Eve is inseparably linked to grape harvesting and the sound of church bells welcoming the arrival of the new year. It is said that whoever manages to eat 12 grapes before the midnight bells ring will have good luck in the new year.
In Jerez, the traditional New Year's dessert is Pestiños – a type of rich fried dough sprinkled with sugar and anise or drizzled with honey. The flavor of Macallan whisky is inspired by this very dessert. You will find layers of Pestiños with honey, sweet raisins, cinnamon, anise, and notes of fresh rosemary.
A Night on Earth Jerez offers a unique three-layer experience in one luxurious box. Each layer was created by artist María Melero, who was born in Jerez, capturing her most beautiful memories of New Year's Eve in her hometown in southern Spain.
María Melero is an artist and illustrator, born in 1988 in Jerez, who has created commissioned works for numerous publications and advertising brands. María has a vibrant style with symbolic power that places Andalusian culture at the center of attention. Her work allows for a clear exploration of Andalusia. Literature, 19th-century engravings, and Andalusian folklore are her main sources of inspiration.
