Devín is a modern Slovak white wine variety, created in 1958 by crossing Gewürztraminer and Red-White Veltliner. It is an aromatic grape that has gained strong popularity in recent years thanks to its complex aroma, harmonious taste and versatility – ranging from dry styles to sweet, ice, straw and botrytised wines.

Grape and flavour of Devín

Devín grapes are yellow-green, medium-sized and naturally rich in aromatic compounds. The aroma and flavour reveal notes of rose petals, honey, raisins and tropical fruit such as lychee, along with gentle spicy nuances inherited from Gewürztraminer. Dry styles are fresh and fruit-forward, while semi-sweet and sweet versions highlight its honeyed and floral tones. Devín also excels in late-harvest and ice wine expressions, where it shows remarkable fullness and aromatic depth.
