Boann Legacy Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey is a new permanent edition from Boann Distillery and a tribute to the tradition of Irish whiskey, the craft, and the people who have shaped it for generations. It was introduced to the brand's portfolio in 2026 as the fourth permanent Single Pot Still whiskey.
The name Legacy also refers to the Cooney family, who have been part of the Irish beverage industry for over 50 years. The whiskey thus connects family heritage, traditional Irish distilling craft, and a more modern approach to barrel management. Inspiration also comes from the Irish word Dúchas – a reference to the heritage, craft, and traditions passed down from generation to generation.
The foundation of Boann Legacy is a blend of whiskey aged in seven different types of casks. American and French oak meet five styles of fortified wine casks – Oloroso, Pedro Ximénez, Palo Cortado, Amontillado, and Moscatel. This combination brings layers of fruitiness, sweetness, spice, and oak character.
The whiskey consists of distillates aged approximately 3.5 to 5.5 years and utilizes two distinct mash bills. The first consists of an equal share of malted and unmalted barley, while the second combines malted and unmalted barley with a small amount of oats and rye. It is bottled at 40% alcohol by volume.
The bottle design also ties into the product's story. The color gradient from copper to turquoise-green patina is inspired by the natural aging of copper distillation stills – a symbol of time, craft, and the legacy of previous generations.
