Rum Angostura 5 Year Old comes from Trinidad & Tobago and is produced by Angostura Ltd, the country's largest rum producer and a well-known manufacturer of its iconic bitters.
It is a blend of light and medium-heavy rums, distilled in continuous columns, which are then aged for at least 5 years in charred Cork & Mash bourbon whiskey barrels.
After aging, the rum is filtered through activated charcoal and blended to achieve a delicate golden hue. The result is a balanced, medium-bodied rum with pleasant flavor nuances. The aroma is dominated by a combination of coconut wood, caramel, vanilla, lemon zest, and subtle notes of chocolate and spice. On the palate, the rum is smooth and fruity, with notes of tropical fruit, green mango, and banana.
The finish is relatively short, with a slightly spicy finish and a sweet caramel aftertaste.
The blend is versatile – it is ideal for mixing cocktails (e.g. Mai Tai, Mojito), but tastes just as good neat or on ice.
