Admiral Rodney HMS Princessa is a molasses rum from the Caribbean island of Saint Lucia. It is produced by distilling using the Coffey still, where the distillate is extracted from the bottom of the apparatus to achieve a robust and rich flavor profile. The rum is aged in American oak barrels previously used for bourbon and in port casks. The final blend was expertly crafted from rums aged 5-9 years. Admiral Rodney Princessa rum offers notes of raisins, vanilla, honey, Caribbean spices, oak, and crème brûlée. A great rum that we recommend tasting from the Admiral Rodney brand as a first!
The rum is named after a British officer and one of the key ships of the British fleet, HMS Princessa. Admiral Rodney was an outstanding naval strategist who broke the French line in the "Battle of Saints," allowing Britain to dominate the Caribbean.
