Aberlour A'Bunadh Batch 80
Pronunciation: {Aber-lór a bu-nach}Aberlour A’Bunadh Batch 80 is an iconic single malt whisky from Scotland’s Speyside region, with a name that in Gaelic means “from the origin.” This philosophy is reflected in every detail – the whisky is bottled without chill filtration, without added colouring, and at full cask strength, exactly as it matured in the casks.
For Batch 80, carefully selected Spanish oak sherry butts seasoned with Oloroso, with a capacity of around 500 litres, were used. These casks give the whisky its signature character – rich creaminess, intense sherry notes, and a deep fruity and chocolate-driven profile. Aberlour also uses cork stoppers when storing the casks, allowing heavier aromatic compounds to evaporate more effectively, resulting in a smoother and more harmonious whisky.
The nose is intensely spicy, combined with sweet sherry, juicy oranges, and the aroma of freshly made pralines. On the palate, the whisky is smooth and creamy, with pronounced notes of oranges, black cherries, and dried fruit, complemented by elegant hints of ginger, dark chocolate, and spicy oak.
Each batch of Aberlour A’Bunadh is bottled in limited quantities, with individual batches showing subtle variations in character. The whisky is presented in bottles inspired by old Scottish apothecary bottles, hand-sealed with wax, underlining its traditional character.
