15-Year-Old Guatemalan Rum Zacapa Centenario is distilled from fermented virgin sugarcane syrup. Only the finest 15-Year-Old rums are used for the blend, which are aged for over a year to achieve perfect balance in aroma and flavor.
It ages in ex-port Spanish and ex-cognac French oak barrels. It then finishes aging in ex-sherry Pedro Ximenez barrels. The rum's allure lies in its scarcity, which will not change in the future. It is suitable as an investment as well as for sipping.
The distillery boasts that their plantations are in the best place in the world for sugarcane production, thanks to a combination of microclimate, soil, and temperature. When it comes time for fermentation, the distillery uses its own strain of yeast derived from pineapple. These yeasts produce a specific aroma characteristic of Zacapa Centenario rums.
