Vecchia Romagna Black Label
Brandy Vecchia Romagna Etichetta Nera is produced by double distillation – a combination of continuous and discontinuous techniques – followed by double ageing. First, it ages for at least one year in French barrique barrels (400 litres), then in large Slavonian oak barrels (4,000–5,000 litres). Finally, the distillates are blended and aged for at least 3 months before being bottled in the iconic round brandy bottle.
The beautiful honey-gold colour (old gold, antique) heralds the elegant character of the brandy. The aroma offers exotic notes of papaya and pineapple intertwined with vanilla, cinnamon, cloves and baked caramelised pear. The taste of the brandy is characterised by a velvety complexity: sweet spices, distinctive cloves, subtle notes of vanilla and cinnamon with a stable, elegantly lingering finish.
The roots of Vecchia Romagna date back to 1820, when Giovanni Buton founded an experimental distillery in Bologna. In 1939, the brandy was given the name ‘Vecchia Romagna’ and its triangular bottle. The brand was later taken over by Montenegro in 1999.
Etichetta Nera is now considered the jewel of the portfolio, has been nominated for the Brands Award 2022 and is recognised for its rich, elegant harmony.
The bottles are filled with 38 % alcohol and have a volume of 0,7 l.
