The Rum Trail Barbados 18 Year old
Add a tasting glass and elevate your experience to the next level!
The Rum Trail Barbados 18 Year Old is a limited rum from the The Elixir Trails collection, which showcases distinctive rums from various parts of the world, highlighting their origin, local style, and diversity. This edition comes from a family distillery located in the former sugar mill in the southeast of Barbados.
The rum was distilled in 2006 from molasses and was created by blending two types of distillate. The pot still component gives it fullness and a richer structure, while the column still distillate brings lightness and elegance. The individual components were blended before being placed in barrels to harmoniously connect their characters during the long aging process.
For the first 14 years, it aged in bourbon barrels in the tropical climate of Barbados. It was then transferred to fresher bourbon barrels, where it continued to slowly age for another 4 years in the cooler conditions of Scotland. The combination of tropical and continental aging created a balanced profile with notes of coconut, caramel, citrus, flowers, chocolate, and subtle spices.
The rum was bottled in 2025 at a strength of 48% alcohol. The entire edition consists of only 500 bottles, making it an interesting choice for lovers of aged Barbadian rums as well as collectors of limited independent bottlings.

Our Serving Suggestion
This 18-Year-Old Rum from Barbados is best enjoyed neat, at room temperature from a tasting glass (ideally tulip-shaped). Allow it to "breathe" for a while to fully develop all its complex aromas and flavors. Adding ice could unnecessarily mute its delicate nuances.
