Port Askaig Sherry Cask
Add a tasting glass and elevate your experience to the next level!
Port Askaig Sherry Cask is a modern interpretation of classic Islay whisky, perfectly blending characteristic peaty smoke with rich sherry tones. The whisky matures in Oloroso sherry casks sourced from the renowned Spanish cooperage José Miguel Martín. Each batch is created by combining only 20 casks, which gives it consistent quality while preserving its artisanal character.
In both aroma and taste, Islay's smoky notes intertwine with dark fruit, citrus freshness, and chocolate depth. The result is a complex whisky that appeals to lovers of distinctly peaty whiskies as well as fans of the rich sherry style.
The whisky is bottled at 50.5% alcohol by volume, without chill filtration and without added coloring, to maintain its natural flavor and texture.
Port Askaig is among the most respected independent whisky brands from Islay. The origin distillery is not officially disclosed, which shifts the focus primarily to the whisky's character and the quality of the casks used.
Main Features
- Authentic Islay character: With every sip, you will experience the typical peaty smokiness and a gentle touch of sea breeze, characteristic of the finest whiskies from this legendary Scottish island.
- Rich sherry cask tones: Aging in carefully selected sherry casks adds deep layers of dried fruit, dark chocolate, and gentle spices that beautifully complement its smoky base.
- Intense and full flavor: Thanks to the higher alcohol content (50.5%), you will enjoy an unfiltered and immensely rich flavor profile that unfolds gradually in the mouth, leaving a long, warming finish.
- Perfect balance of smoke and sweetness: This is a masterfully balanced whisky where the strength of the peat elegantly intertwines with the sweetness of the sherry, creating a harmonious and unforgettable experience for your senses.
How to Best Enjoy It
This exceptional whisky is best enjoyed neat and at room temperature to fully appreciate its complexity. For those who like to experiment, we recommend adding a few drops of pure water – this will release additional layers of aromas and soften its overall character.
