Paddy
Paddy Whiskey began its journey as the Cork Distilleries Company Old Irish Whiskey in 1779, but it did not get its name until 1913, after the merchant Paddy O'Flaherty, who gained popularity by always buying a glass of whiskey for one host on his routes – to keep it on offer.
It is a blended combination of single pot still, single malt and grain whiskies, which is unusual in Irish tradition.
Distillation takes place three times in the Irish style (triple distilled) in Cork, after which the whisky matures for up to seven years in oak casks in a quiet and aromatic warehouse. The result is a balanced, smooth profile with a typical sweet and spicy touch.
Paddy is an affordable and very popular blend – it is one of the best-selling Irish whiskeys in the world. Its typical profile includes nutty maltiness with subtle notes of honey, vanilla, caramel and floral hints, with a warm, sweet, smoothing finish.
It is great neat, on the rocks, but also enjoyable in mixed drinks.
