Kilchoman Loch Gorm 2023
Kilchoman Loch Gorm 2023 is a limited edition Scottish single malt whisky from the Isle of Islay, which has undergone final maturation in oloroso sherry casks from the Jose Miguel Martin bodega. It is common for distilleries to use a wide range of ex-sherry casks. However, this is not the case with Kilchoman, which uses casks exclusively from this one bodega to maintain the consistency and character of its whisky. Maturation in these casks imparts the whisky with pronounced notes of sherry, spicy dark chocolate, rich fruitiness, and a taste of burnt sugar. These beautifully harmonize with the peaty smoke and citrus notes of Kilchoman whisky.
This Scottish whisky got its unique name from the largest freshwater lake on Islay, Loch Gorm, which is located near the Kilchoman distillery. Its dark, peaty water is reflected in the rich copper tones of this limited edition with a peat level of 50 ppm.
For the 2023 vintage, the distillery's top heads (Anthony Wills and Robin Bignal) selected a total of 22 casks, of which 8 were from 2013, 6 from 2014, and another 8 were distilled in 2015.
The whisky was produced in a limited quantity of 18,000 bottles.
