Japanese whiskey

Japanese whiskeys are made in the Scottish style. We rank them somewhere between Lowland and Speyside whiskeys. They are soft and perfumed, with honey sweetness, with tones of sherry and flowers. Sometimes they are smoky in the manner of Islay whiskey. The fast-growing Japanese whiskey industry has two founders: Shinjiro Torii and Masataka Taketsuru. Shinjiro founded the Suntory brand and opened its first distillery in Japan in 1923. Taketsuru founded Yoichi in Hokkaido 11 years later. Today, Japanese whiskeys are becoming more and more popular and are gaining enthusiasts outside the Asian region.
