Hatozaki Triple Cask Reserve
Hatozaki Triple Cask Reserve is a distinctive Japanese blended malt whisky created by master blender Kimio Yonezawa at the Kaikyō Distillery on the coast of Akashi. It is part of the prestigious core range that celebrates traditional whisky techniques with a unique Japanese twist and will become a permanent part of the portfolio from April 2025.
This whisky is a blend of carefully selected malt whiskies that undergo a two-stage maturation process: first in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, followed by a final six months of maturation in umeshu liqueur casks. This process is rare in the world of whisky. The maritime environment and ocean climate of the coast accelerate the development of the aroma and delicate minerality.
The nose reveals elegant notes of spicy oak, black tea and orange peel, complemented by dried apricots, vanilla and subtle hints of roasted malted barley flour. The aromatic trail of the combination of ex-sherry casks and ume finish creates an unusual sweet and sour fruity depth.
The flavor profile is delicately spicy with hints of oak, bitterness, dried citrus peel, and the fruity depth of the ume finish. This is followed by sweet honey, syrup, delicate pear tones, peach and strawberry fruits, and a hint of plums. The medium to long finish is smooth and balanced with a sweet and fruity finish.
The bottles are filled with 46 % alcohol by volume, have a volume of 0,7 l and are supplied in gift boxes.
