Glen Scotia 12 Year Old Icons of Campbeltown No. 4 is an exceptional Scottish single malt whisky from the Campbeltown region, representing the fourth release in the limited edition Icons of Campbeltown. The collection draws inspiration from local legends and the historic stone cross Market Cross. This edition is dedicated to the legendary griffin, a mythical creature with the body of a lion and the head of an eagle, which according to legend guarded the port of Campbeltown and its greatest treasure – the local whisky.
This 12-year-old unpeated whisky underwent a final 12-month maturation in Vin Santo casks, imparting rich sweetness and a pronounced fruity character. The nose is dominated by caramel, dried apricots, and candied red apples, while the palate delivers a harmonious blend of honey, roasted hazelnuts, cinnamon, nutmeg, and a gentle coastal saltiness. The finish is pleasantly warming, with notes of citrus peel, caramelized oak, and crème brûlée.
The whisky is bottled in natural color, without chill filtration, preserving its authentic character. The uniqueness of the edition is further highlighted by the original gift packaging featuring an illustration of the griffin by artist Joel Holtzman. Glen Scotia 12 Year Old Icons of Campbeltown No. 4 is an attractive choice for lovers of bold Scottish whiskies as well as collectors of limited editions.
