Foursquare Magisterium 16 Year Old
Foursquare Magisterium is an exclusive blend that embodies the mastery of Foursquare Rum Distillery in Barbados. Distilled from molasses using traditional methods.
Foursquare Rum Distillery announced in September that it is releasing a 16-year-old single blended rum as part of the Exceptional Cask Selection edition. Mark XXVI Magisterium is what the Barbados rum brand refers to as a limited release, selected by Master Blender Richard Seale only when he finds casks of “exceptional quality.”
This rum is born from double distillation, which combines Double-Retort Pot Still and Continuous Twin Column Coffey Still. Two of the three rums were double-aged to capture a rich and refined aromatic palette. It ages 16 years in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, gaining unparalleled complexity and depth.
Magisterium is more precisely a blend of three 16-year-old single blended rums. Single blended rum is a category of blended rums where all components have been distilled at one distillery.
One of them aged for 3 years in bourbon casks and 13 years in Oloroso sherry casks. The second rum spent 9 years in bourbon casks and 7 years in Oloroso sherry casks. The final rum aged 16 years exclusively in bourbon casks.
The blending and aging process of the rum was conducted under the guidance of Master Distiller and Master Blender Richard Seale from Foursquare Rum Distillery.
This rum, inspired by the concept of “Magisterium,” embodies symbolic authority in the world of spirits, advocating for the art of traditional distillation and the purity of flavors. Each bottle is a testament to respecting traditions and allows connoisseurs to appreciate an authentic product.
With woody aromas, dried fruit, and a subtle caramel touch, Foursquare - Magisterium reveals a rounded palate, enriched with notes of vanilla, spice, and a silky finish. This complex rum is a true treasure for discerning enthusiasts.
This rum is bottled at a natural alcohol content (fullproof) of up to 58% with a volume of 0.7 l.
