Equiano Light Rum is a young white Afro-Caribbean rum created by two authorities in the rum world, Ian Burrell and Richard Seale.
It is a blend of gently aged molasses rum from the Caribbean island of Barbados from the renowned local distillery Foursquare Rum Distillery and fresh sugarcane juice from the African island of Mauritius, produced by Gray’s Distillery.
This rum is a perfect example that even young and white rums can be just as sophisticated as aged dark rums. The flavor profile develops the typical grassy-vegetal taste of rums made from sugarcane juice.
Equiano Light Rum is best enjoyed in classic cocktails. We especially recommend it as a base for a Daiquiri cocktail.
The color of the rum is interesting in pale shades of gold. The aroma is harmonious and balanced, with fresh sugarcane, vanilla, dry oak wood, and hints of earthy and herbal tones typical of rum from sugarcane juice, with a subtle scent of tropical fruits, citrus oil, and green apples emerging after “breathing” in the glass.
The taste is intensely felt with sugarcane, tropical fruits, citrus peel, green apples, pears, vanilla, and gentle oak wood.
The finish is dominated by the “Barbadian” component, a subtle hint of oak wood, with the initial sweet notes of the rum gradually transitioning into citrus peel, vanilla, white pepper, and sweet spices.
