Dimple 15 Year Old
Dimple 15 Year Old is a prestigious classic among Scottish blended whiskies. This golden blend, carefully blended for at least 15 years from selected Scottish malt and grain whiskies – including Glenkinchie and Linkwood – offers smoothness, elegance and harmony in an elegant triangular bottle with characteristic dimples.
This unique whisky is created by the Haig family (John Haig & Co.), now part of Diageo. More than 30 different distillates are used in its production – malts from Scottish distilleries such as Glenkinchie, Linkwood and others – combined with grain whiskies. Maturation takes place in bourbon and ex-sherry casks, which enhances depth and complexity, with the youngest distillate in the blend being at least 15 years old.
The nose reveals sweet notes of honey, caramel and dried fruit – figs and dates – with a hint of vanilla and oak spice. On the palate, the whisky is creamy, slightly smoky, with notes of toffee, nuts (e.g. roasted almonds), sweet barley and a hint of spice. The finish is dominated by a long finish with hints of oak and delicate dried fruit.
Dimple was created in 1890 by John Haig, founder of the Scottish blending tradition, and the iconic dimpled bottle appeared in 1893. Over the decades, it has gained popularity around the world, including in the US, where it is known as Dimple Pinch. Today, it is produced by Diageo in Cameronbridge and is one of the best-selling 15-year-old blended whiskies, prized by connoisseurs for its quality, tradition and stylish packaging.
