Dictador Reserva Icónica 20 Year Old is one of the representative rums of the Colombian brand Dictador, which is among the world-renowned producers of premium rums.
This rum is made from pure fermentation of virgin sugar cane, known as "virgin sugar cane honey."
It is distilled using a combined method – part in copper pot stills and part in steel continuous columns, resulting in a balanced and medium-bodied distillate. After distillation, it ages in used ex-bourbon and ex-sherry oak barrels, which gives it a complex character and depth.
Dark rum then ages in the Solera system for 14 to 24 years and gains complexity. During this process, the rum is slowly diluted with demineralized water over 28 days, contributing to its smoothness and balance. This careful aging process combined with used oak barrels creates a rum with deep character and balanced flavor.
The aroma is dominated by notes of caramel, coffee, cocoa, vanilla, dried fruit, and subtle smoky wood.
The taste is full and velvety – dark chocolate, honey, caramel, espresso, sweet spices, delicate notes of raisins, and toasted oak. The finish is long, sweet, slightly spicy, with hints of tobacco and chocolate.
