Dictador Rum is produced in Cartagena, Colombia, with a history dating back to 1913. It was founded by Don Julio Arango y Parra, who set out to blend Caribbean tradition with Colombian craftsmanship. Dictador rums are made primarily from sugar cane honey (rather than molasses), giving them a smoother, richer character.

The distillery combines both column and copper pot still distillation and matures its rums using the solera system, more typical of sherry and brandy. Today, Dictador stands as a premium brand that unites Colombian rum with modern luxury, art collaborations, and limited editions—making it one of the most acclaimed Latin American distilleries worldwide.
