Dictador Rum comes from Cartagena, Colombia, where it has been produced since 1913. It was founded by Don Julio Arango y Parra, who aimed to combine Caribbean tradition with Colombian passion for craftsmanship. Dictador rums are primarily made from sugar cane honey (not molasses), which gives them a smoother and richer character.

The distillery combines the classic column method and copper pot still, and its rums are aged in a solera system, which is more typical for sherry and brandy. Dictador has become a premium brand that merges Colombian rum with modern luxury, art, and limited editions – making it one of the most respected Latin American distilleries in the world.
