Chivas Regal Mizunara
Chivas Regal Mizunara is a blended whisky that was originally intended for the Japanese market. This special edition was inspired by master distiller Colin Scott's trip to Japan. Part of the whiskey matured in Japanese Mizunara oak barrels, which is unusual but always fascinating when it comes to whiskey maturation.
The aroma reveals notes of peach, pear, caramel, vanilla, and delicate nuts - the aromas are fresh and fruity, accompanied by an oak base.
On the palate, the whisky is sweet, smooth, with caramel, vanilla and fruity accents such as peach and dried fruit. As it progresses, there is a hint of spice (e.g. black pepper, cloves) that comes from the Mizunara barrels. The finish is medium-long, with echoes of oak, subtle spicy tones, and a delicate sweetness.
We recommend serving it neat or with a few drops of water, in a Glencairn or tulip glass, at room temperature. Slow drinking will allow the more delicate tones from the Mizunara barrels to be released gradually.
