Set Monkey Shoulder + Spearhead
Monkey Shoulder is a Scotch whisky crafted for making perfect whisky cocktails. It is a unique blended whisky made from various Speyside whiskies. Aged in ex-bourbon casks for 6 to 12 years.
The name of the whisky is associated with a condition (Monkey Shoulder) that affected malt workers in earlier times. Regularly turning the malt with wooden shovels led to deformation of the upper body. It is a tribute to all those workers who laid the foundation for the fame of Scotch whisky.
On the "shoulder" of the bottle sit three metal monkeys.
Spearhead is an unconventional Scottish single grain whisky, born at the renowned Loch Lomond Distillery. It is made from 100% malted barley, which ferments for about 92 hours, which is unusually long. This contributes to its rich aroma and light texture.
Instead of traditional pot stills, it is distilled in a copper Coffey still. This categorizes it as a single grain whisky – this type of whisky does not refer to the grain used, but to the method of distillation. Single grain whisky is smoother, easier to drink, and has a softer profile than classic single malt whiskies. After distillation, the whisky matures in bourbon casks and then undergoes a special final maturation of 6 months in casks that are toasted with infrared heat and traditional fire. This special double toasting brings a gentle sweetness, creamy notes, and a pronounced vanilla character to the whisky.
Spearhead is an excellent choice for those looking to discover a more modern style of whisky. It tastes great neat, on the rocks, with a splash of water, and in cocktails, where its smoothness shines beautifully.
