Monkey Shoulder

Monkey Shoulder is an award-winning Scottish whisky brand that was created in 2005 under the umbrella of William Grant & Sons. It is characterised by a playful, bold approach – its name refers to ‘monkey shoulder’, a traditional discomfort that plagued malters when kneading malt by hand.

This whisky is a blended malt, which means that it is a blend of exclusively malted whiskies from three different Speyside distilleries according to the original concept of William Grant (e.g. Balvenie, Glenfiddich, Kininvie). It is matured in small batches in ex-bourbon casks, which gives it a rich and aromatic character.

Monkey Shoulder presents itself as friendly, open and informal – ideal especially for younger and novice whisky fans. The brand is not afraid to make people smile and awaken the desire to try something new, in the spirit of its motto ‘bringing great Scotch to a new generation’.
