Monkey Shoulder is a blended malt whisky, created in 2005 by William Grant & Sons, who are also behind the brands Glenfiddich and Balvenie. The name refers to an old term “monkey shoulder” – a painful shoulder condition that affected workers when manually turning malt in traditional malt houses.

Blend of Three Speyside Whiskies

Monkey Shoulder is a blend of exclusively malt whiskies from three Speyside distilleries – Glenfiddich, Balvenie, and Kininvie. It matures in charred bourbon casks, which impart a gentle sweetness, notes of vanilla, caramel, and roasted nuts. The result is a whisky with a smooth, harmonious character and a playful soul.
