Bošácka Slivovica Square in a wooden box
Bošácka Slivovica is made exclusively from carefully selected, ripe plum fruits (e.g., domestic, Bystrica, durandža) from the Bošácka dolina region in the White Carpathians.
Fermentation occurs naturally - without added yeast - and after 5 – 6 weeks follows double distillation in copper stills. The distillate is then mixed with high-quality softened water, allowed to mature appropriately, and bottled in characteristic square bottles.
Bošácka Slivovica is clear, slightly golden, with a rich fruity character and distinct plum aroma “plum spirit.” The taste is smooth, balanced, and slightly almond-like - a natural aftertaste of the pits, without any added flavors or sweeteners.
Its origins date back to the time of Maria Theresa, when Benedictine monks learned to distill in the White Carpathians. From there, the tradition spread, with production in the region continuing for almost 500 years. Slivovica has become a symbol of the bare Bošácka dolina (“square” bottle refers to its shape) and represents the art of Slovak distillers.
Bottles are delivered in an elegant wooden box.
