This edition is part of the annually released Master Blender's Reserve series, which uses the principle of perpetual blend - each new bottle contains part of the previous blend, creating a link between history and development.
The main part of the blend comes from Guyana, enriched with rums from Barbados, Jamaica and rare single cask pieces from the legendary Trinidadian Caroni Distillery, now closed. In addition, it also contains a portion from the 50th Anniversary Edition (2020), which matured in ex-sherry casks.
The nose reveals rich notes of dark chocolate, black sweet field mustard and overripe bananas, underpinned by tropical fruit reflections. The palate is a blend of orange juice, anise, dry cinnamon, minty freshness and fennel, with a long finish of grapefruit and acacia honey.
We recommend serving it neat at room temperature to bring out all the layers of fruit, spice and depth of the blend. This is a rum that deserves to be savoured slowly and meditatively – ideal after dinner or as a collector's item for connoisseurs. What's more, it is bottled without chill filtration, with no added sugar or colouring – maximum authenticity.
